Presentation Title: Striking SPARCs: a Migration Story

Presentation abstract: We migrated a production database from Intel to a SPARC T4 RAC system, making use of logical domains for hard partitioning. A number of benchmarks including SLOB were used to compare and estimate the implications on performance. The procedure of cross platform transportable tablespace will be introduced aswell as methods to evaluate the real performance impacts after with AWR and ASH data.

He enjoys working with software developers to tightly integrate with existing Oracle features, is passionate about sharing knowledge and has enjoyed speaking at several conferences and user group meetings including OpenWorld, UKOUG, COLLABORATE and DOAG. He also serves as the European Chair of IOUG's RAC special interest group.
