Presentation abstract: Storage performance is critical for databases. However DBAs often struggle to get relevant data when drilling down on storage issues. This presentation is about sharing techniques and tools that DBAs can use troubleshoot their storage systems using Oracle’s performance data. Topics will include visualisation techniques, data collection methods and the author’s work on a free tool: OraLatencyMap.

Speaker biography:  Luca Canali is a Senior DBA for CERN in Geneva with 13+ years of experience using Oracle products in the sectors of research, finance and telecoms. Since 2005 he has been working at the start-up and support operations of the database services for physics at CERN. Luca has presented at Oracle User Groups conferences in the recent past on the topics of ASM internals, RAC, DB storage performance, Oracle compression, ACFS and Data life cycle management, Active Data Guard.
